prof. Akiko Ebi jest jedną z najwybitniejszych pianistów swojego pokolenia, która w swojej karierze zdobyła liczne nagrody i wyróżnienia, zarówno w Japonii, jak i na świecie. Urodziła się w Osace, gdzie rozpoczęła naukę gry na fortepianie w bardzo młodym wieku. W 1973 roku wyjechała do Francji, gdzie rozpoczęła studia pianistyczne pod kierunkiem Aldo Ciccoliniego w Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique w Paryżu. W 1975 roku zdobyła II nagrodę na Międzynarodowym Konkursie im. Marguerite Long i Jacques'a Thibaud w Paryżu. W 1980 wzięła udział w X Międzynarodowym Konkursie Pianistycznym im. Fryderyka Chopina, gdzie ex aequo z Ewą Pobłocką została laureatką V nagrody. W 1981 uczestniczyła w Międzynarodowym Konkursie Pianistycznym w Leeds. W 1987 wzięła udział w koncercie zamykającym 42. Międzynarodowy Festiwal Chopinowski w Dusznikach-Zdroju, wykonując z orkiestrą Koncert fortepiany e-moll Fryderyka Chopina. W 2015 została jurorką XVII Międzynarodowego Konkursu Pianistycznego im. Fryderyka Chopina.

Każdego roku jest zapraszana do występów na wielu prestiżowych festiwalach w Europie, Japonii i USA. Jej kariera międzynarodowa obejmuje występy w 38 krajach, w tym w renomowanych salach koncertowych takich jak Filharmonia Berlińska, Gewandhaus w Lipsku, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées w Paryżu, Suntory Hall w Tokio oraz Wigmore Hall w Londynie. Jej dyskografia chopinowska obejmuje wszystkie etiudy, preludia, nokturny, impromptus oraz Koncert e-moll, oprócz tego dokonała nagrań utworów Griega, Francka, Ravela, Faurégo, Weberna.

Od rządu francuskiego artystka otrzymała order Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres, jest również laureatką prestiżowej japońskiej nagrody muzycznej ExxonMobile. Zapraszana do jury najważniejszych konkursów pianistycznych, m.in. w Hamamatsu i Warszawie (Konkurs Chopinowski). Obecnie zasiada w radzie powierniczej Japońskiego Towarzystwa Chopinowskiego i jest prezesem Komitetu Międzynarodowego Konkursu Pianistycznego w Yokohamie.

W ostatnich latach aktywnie zajmuje się kształceniem młodych muzyków i jest cenioną nauczycielką kursów mistrzowskich w krajach na całym świecie

Prof. Akiko Ebi is one of the most prominent pianists of her generation, having received numerous awards and distinctions both in Japan and internationally. She was born in Osaka, where she began learning to play the piano at a very young age. In 1973, she moved to France to study piano under Aldo Ciccolini at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris. In 1975, she won the second prize at the Marguerite Long and Jacques Thibaud International Piano Competition in Paris. In 1980, she participated in the 10th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, where she was awarded the 5th prize, ex aequo with Ewa Pobłocka. In 1981, she took part in the International Piano Competition in Leeds. In 1987, she performed at the closing concert of the 42nd International Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdrój, performing Chopin's Piano Concerto in E minor with the orchestra. In 2015, she became a jury member of the XVII International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition.

Each year, she is invited to perform at many prestigious festivals in Europe, Japan, and the USA. Her international career includes performances in 38 countries, including in renowned concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and Wigmore Hall in London. Her discography of Chopin’s works includes all the Etudes, Preludes, Nocturnes, Impromptus, and the Piano Concerto in E minor. In addition, she has recorded works by Grieg, Franck, Ravel, Fauré, and Webern.

She has been awarded the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French government and is also a recipient of the prestigious Japanese music award, ExxonMobile. She has been invited to serve on the jury of major piano competitions, including those in Hamamatsu and Warsaw (Chopin Competition). Currently, she serves on the Board of Trustees of the Japanese Chopin Society and is the President of the International Chopin Piano Competition Committee in Yokohama.

In recent years, she has actively been involved in educating young musicians and is a respected teacher of masterclasses in countries around the world.
