Dr. hab. Dorota Zimna, harpsichordist, habilitated doctor, graduated from the F. Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz in the harpsichord class of Prof. dr hab. Urszula Bartkiewicz (with distinction). Since 2005, she has been a lecturer, and currently also the Head of the Department of Harpsichord, Organ and Early Music at AMFN in Bydgoszcz.
She performs as a soloist and chamber musician. She has participated in concerts across Poland, as well as in Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Ukraine, Spain, and Latvia. She has had the opportunity to collaborate with many ensembles and orchestras, including the Orchestra of the 18th Century, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the Intemperata ensemble, the Capella Bydgostiensis chamber orchestra, and the Pomeranian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. Her main area of activity is 17th and 18th-century music, but she also performs 20th and 21st-century repertoires, including premieres (e.g., works by M. Gumiela, P.A. Komorowski, R. Gorzycki, D. Przybylski).
She has participated in the creation of several music publications, including Polish keyboard music. From the Józef Elsner Publishing House, for harpsichord or piano, edited by Urszula Bartkiewicz. In 2016, her book "Variants of Instrumental Ensemble in the Works of François Couperin" was published, along with the album "François Couperin – Compositeur Royal." With the Intemperata ensemble, she recorded works by A. Jarzębski, M. Mielczewski, S.S. Szarzyński (album "Gościniec," 2018), and with accordionist Stanisław Miłek, the album "Time Dilation" with contemporary Polish music (2022). She was also a co-performer on the album "Alchemie," nominated for the Fryderyk’22 award in the category of Album of the Year – Early Music. Her latest album, recorded with cellist and gambist Matthias Bergmann, is "Georg Philipp Telemann – Complete Works for Viola da Gamba or Violoncello and Basso" (2024).
She is a lecturer and a member of the organizational office of the Summer Methodical Courses of Early Music in Warsaw. Since 2018, she has been the president of the Academy of Early Music Association – the organizer of the Bydgoszcz Baroque Scene and Baroque Scene in Inowrocław.
In 2022, for her artistic activity, she was awarded the Distinction from the Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship in the "Culture" category.
